Tip’d Spreads Like a Weed Into Plugins, Mashups and Scripts

by Andy on January 13, 2009

As the Tip’d community grows (and along with it, our traffic levels and brand recognition), we’re beginning to be seen as a worthy of inclusion into various social media mashups, scripts and plugins. I’m proud to announce we’ve been added to:

  • Wordpress plugins: Sociable now offers Tip’d on its list of social bookmarking services.
  • Scripts: If you’re not using Wordpress, you’ll still have Tip’d available if you install SocialTwist or AddtoAny. (We’re hoping to get included in ShareThis and Addthis at some point, as well.)
  • Mashups: Popurls has promised to include Tip’d in a future update.
  • Firefox Add-ons: Social Media for Firefox has agreed to add Tip’d into the next version.

All credit goes, of course, to all the Tip’d members who make Tip’d a great source of financial content and discussion.

Oh, and two other random announcements: Tip’d has joined FriendFeed, and we’ve also created a Tip’d Youtube channel (more news on the latter coming soon). Don’t forget to subscribe to both!

Love tip’d but why no follow on our own posts from tipd.com site?

Andy 01.21.09 at 1:41 pm

Hi Robert,

Published stories get “followed” links. We put nofollow on unpublished (both upcoming & toppled) stories to discourage automated spamming. Meanwhile, worthy stories still get our link juice.

Thanks for the clarification Andy. One question, by publishing you mean what? In other words, if I submit a post, it is not necessarily considered published?

Andy 01.24.09 at 3:51 pm

Robert,

By published I mean: a story which goes “hot”, one which makes it to the frontpage.
