Yes indeed, we’ve reached the 30,000 user mark for the Tip’d community… we’re 15 months old, and still going strong! Thanks to everyone in the Tip’d community who shares financial news and tips every day to make us the best PF community on the Web. We’re long overdue for some technical updates to the site–especiallya few anti-spam tweaks to help our moderator team so they can spend more time helping the community (vs. deleting spam). We’ll make sure to update the blog when the updates are live.

Congrats on getting 30K members. I would really like to see a permanent post on this blog for suggestions and discussions of new Tip’d features. With some new features, Tip’d could grow the membership to 100K. Here are some of my suggestions:
There needs to be a way to encourage tipping. There are lots of quality articles that don’t get any tips. Look how many low-tip articles there are from WSJ

Not all of these may be worthy of the front page, but surely they should get more tips than many of the semi-spam postings.
The Karma system needs to be improved. It doesn’t seem to be factoring in tipping of other members’ articles or leaving comments. I’ve seen many members who only submit articles have a Karma of 10 vs those active members who have Karmas under 10. There really needs to be more reward for the long-time active members who tip others and leave comments.
