While we’re working day and night to make Tip’d a best of breed community by putting hundreds of hours into development and marketing, we’re only doing half the work. The other half, of course, is done by our amazing community. While we are thankful to everyone that participates in the Tip’d community, we wanted to take the opportunity to highlight some members that are going above and beyond in their participation. These users are not just great sources of content (you should befriend them and follow them!) but they are also model community members. [click to continue…]

Well, we’ve hit another major milestone: just moments ago, we reached 5,000 members. Not bad for roughly four months since our public launch, eh?
What better way to celebrate this milestone than by encouraging even more member signups? That’s why last week, we launched our Tip’d inviter tool. Using this tool, logged in users can invite their contacts from Web-based e-mail and social networking services to join Tip’d. The tool can automatically import your contacts from Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, and other services; then simply select the contacts that you would like an invite e-mail sent to, and we take care of the rest. Give it a try if you haven’t already. The race to 10,000 members has just begun!

I’m proud to announce that we’ve finally produced a Tip’d App that you can install to your Facebook profile. We already have a Tip’d Fan Page on Facebook, of course (129 fans and counting!), but that’s just not as sexy as an actual application!
The app shows the latest stories on Tip’d, and we’ve already had several people install it even before we officially announced it.
How did we make the Tip’d App for Facebook? With a lot of help from another application, the Blogfuse Facebook App Creator. Blogfuse provides a way for non-developers to develop a simple, no-frills Facebook app using nothing but their RSS feed and a few minutes of their time. It’s only $5 per month for 1 blog (and there’s a free trial), so if you’ve always wanted a Facebook app for your blog, but couldn’t afford to hire a developer to make a customized one, it’s a highly recommended option.
Anyway please take a look at our Facebook app (click ‘Add to Profile’), and if you’re a Tip’d fan go ahead and rock it on your profile!

Hi everyone. We’ve gotten several reports of bugginess on Tip’d in the past 48 hours, so I figured I would post here to inform everyone that we’re sorry and we’re working on a fix. The main issue: submitting a new story hangs at step 2 for most users. Clicking the “Preview and Submit” button takes the story submitter to a blank white page, which is less than helpful.
Rest assured, we are working on a fix. We’ll post here again when all issues are resolved.
Update 2/11/09 at 11:30 AM CST: Everything appears to be fixed.

The bad news is, Tip’d is now popular enough that the site is very slow. (The good news is, Tip’d is now popular enough that the site is very slow.)
Anyway, we’re sorry about the recent server slowness, and we know it’s not great for user experience. So tonight, we’re happy to announce that we’re moving to a much faster web server!
Please accept our apologies for any downtime or bugs you may experience, everything should be running smoothly (and much faster!) by tomorrow afternoon.
