How to Add Tip’d to Blogger or WordPress

by Jimmy on January 23, 2009

Are you a blogger seeking more ways to promote your content? Consider adding a Tip’d button or text link to your blog. Adding our button or text link to your blog templates is very easy, whether you are using Blogger, WordPress, or any other blogging platform. Our Tip’d Tools for Bloggers page explains how you can easily insert Tip’d buttons and text links into your blog templates (or individual posts if you prefer). Adding Tip’d to your blog posts makes it easier for your readers to submit your stories to Tip’d, giving your blog more exposure.

We also offer a Tip’d FeedFlare for FeedBurner, for those of you using that service. And for WordPress users, Tip’d is now included in the Sociable plugin. Instructions on how to add our FeedFlare and how to install Tip’d on the Sociable plugin are on our Tools for Bloggers page.

If you’ve noticed more spam on Tip’d in the past week when you’ve checked our upcoming stories, you’re not alone. We’ve noticed the ugly spaminess here at Tip’d headquarters, too!

And we’re not, of course, about to let the spammers overrun the Tip’d community. We’re taking the follow action to make sure our upcoming section is (mostly) free of off-topic crapola:

  • Beefing up our moderator staff: The volume of spam is simply too much for one moderator to deal with, so we’re now taking applications for volunteer moderators! (Contact us if you’re interested.)
  • Making several algorithmic tweaks: Sorry, I can’t reveal them here, but rest assured if you’re using Tip’d as a legit user, they shouldn’t affect you 99.999% of the time.
  • Asking users to use the Topple button: Obviously the more the community gets involved, the better. If you see something that’s blatant spam, please Topple!

So hopefully in 4 days’ time, I’ll be writing the follow-up blog post: “How I Beat the Spammers Off with a Stick”. Stay tuned! ;-)
